The Tongue Finds the Heart

Writer's picture: Alice WyattAlice Wyatt

The pen is mightier than the sword

but

the tongue

the tongue

the tongue

mightier still

slenderest of blades

piercing

twisting

finding that tenderest of targets

the heart

leaving no mark

only

drip

drip

drip

like

leeches of old

pulled from the bowl

dark and slimy

by the well-meaning

quack

suck suck suck

Let’s Be HONEST, shall we?

Have you Heard?

Just telling the Truth,

This is God’s WILL!

in desperation

I cocoon my soul

protectively curl

around my core

fill my ears with

the silent mantra

I Am Enough

I Am Enough

I Am Enough

This pulled me in from the get-go. From the heart, you can just tell. You pour it on, then you pour it out. Fantastic poem.
