PR Boost

knowing neither

French nor Arabic

I toss out “hola!”

spread American cheer

throughout a Moroccan Medina

Spain gets a PR boost

The Cost of New Shoes

the Muslim shopkeeper kneels

gently guides sweaty feet

into soft leather sandals

20 euros exchange hands

pride has a price tag

NEW SHOES

effervescent feet

held down by

sunny straps

of soft leather

new shoes

PERSPECTIVE

Oh, my God!

I can’t believe

someone left

that mama kitty

to raise her babies in a box.

OR

Oh, my God!

I can’t believe

someone left

that box for a mama kitty

to raise her babies.

PS - the cat situation is pretty grim. You have to see the good in cardboard boxes and bowls of water instead of the horror of fleas, injuries and rib bones. At least I do. Otherwise, I descend into a morass of 😭 that does no good to anybody.

HOME

her voice

compresses time zones

the sound of home

“goodbye” finally comes

the screen goes dark

I am once again

halfway ‘round the world
